4 nights at Madikwe Hills
An early taxi back to the airport and a small plane gets us to Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge before lunch. Situated in South Africa’s malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, it offers 10 private, glass-fronted suites with plunge pools, luxurious bathrooms, and wilderness views. The suites feature cozy living rooms, muslin-draped beds for waterhole viewing, and cathedral-like bathrooms with deep tubs, outdoor showers, and scenic fold-back windows and are connected to main lodge via elevated walkways, making it one of the region’s premier safari lodges.
Below is the reality of safari, not for late risers….
Madikwe Game Reserve spans 75,000 hectares of acacia-dotted savannah, offering diverse wildlife, including the Big Five, rare wild dogs, cheetahs, and hyenas. The area is in the middle of a severe drought, fortunately our lodge had a watering hole right in front and all the animals gathered there. We saw the big five and on each drive I believe we saw four of them but not everything on one drive.
Their cheetah has successfully raised five cubs
Eighteen Rhinos in one place is just crazy, add in Hyena, Bull Elephant, Jackal, Buffalo and three Lions and it’s obscene
Madikwe Hillls was brilliant place to stay with great game viewing
From here we take a private flight to Kings Camp for more game viewing.
